Acrylic, palm leaves, sand, glue, modeling paste, and gold leaves on canvas.

    120 x 120 x 3 cm

  • The form of the bird is created from palm leaves, conjuring the image of birds flying away to new heights, the way that the artist encourages us to do with our freedom. The image of the bird fades as it moves up the canvas, suggesting movement and distance even on a static canvas. The freedom of movement that birds enjoy is something that we humans tend to envy, but, as the artist implies, this feeling of freedom is available to us as well, with the use of our imaginations.
