Pacha (Earth), 2020

Pacha means ‘earth’ in Quechuan, and this piece embodies the vivid colors of the desert earth in the artist’s home of Dubai. Furthermore, Ana Liz reflects on the power of the sun which makes life possible, with the presence of a showering golden light from the top of the canvas. This could be a testament to the power of the sun in nature, or perhaps a more divine presence, which created life in the first place. The sun also makes possible a unique palette, as it sets over the dunes and produces colors that can only be created by the exquisite pairing between the earth and the sun.
